Resumen
Este artículo presenta una Revisión Sistemática de la Literatura (RSL) académica sobre el reúso adaptativo de edificaciones no patrimoniales, aplicando el método PRISMA, se analizaron 82 documentos clave de bases de datos como Scopus y JSTOR, sintetizando el conocimiento generado en la última década. El estudio confirma que esta estrategia supera a la demolición y nueva construcción al reducir el consumo de recursos, energía incorporada, residuos y expansión urbana.
Económicamente, disminuye costos y aumenta el valor inmobiliario; socialmente fortalece la cohesión comunitaria, mejora la calidad de vida y genera empleo. Se identifican barreras relevantes como marcos normativos fragmentados, retos técnicos, limitaciones financieras y la falta de metodologías unificadas para evaluar la viabilidad de los edificios. Esta revisión ofrece una base sólida para arquitectos, ingenieros y responsables de políticas públicas interesados en fomentar entornos urbanos más sostenibles mediante la transformación del entorno edificado existente.
